Digmon World: Next Order Confirmed for Western PS4 Release

If you’ve been keeping up with the recent string of gaming news then you may have heard that Digimon World: Next Order was recently rated on the Brazilian Ratings Board which, as I tweeted out recently, hinted at the possibility of a European release of the game. Well today publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment have today confirmed that the rumours are true and that Digimon World: Next Order will be released early next year onto the PS4 within the UK and Europe.
Originally released onto the PS4 and PS Vita in Japan of March this year the game will see players sucked into the Digital World to aid friendly Digimon in need that are currently under siege from Machinedramon. As part of the main campaign players, who can choose to play as a male protagonist or female protagonist, will be able to explore the Digimon World, encounter over 200 types of Digimon and train them for battle against evil Digimon lurking in the shadows. Naturally the objective of this story is to help the Digimon in need; but along the way the player must also look for clues on how to return home to the real world.
From my perspective Digimon World: Next Order will fill the void that Digimon Story: Cyber Slueth created, a void which will see the player able to travel to the digital world for his own adventure rather than unraveling a set of mysteries in the real world through digital means. In any event it seems that Mathieu Van Kemenade, Product Manager EMEA at BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Europe, is also excited about the prospect of Digimon returning to European shores; as explained in this statement.
“A lot of Digimon fans were asking for a European version of DIGIMON WORLD: NEXT ORDER and we are extremely pleased to announce it today! But not only will the game be released in the West, it will come in an enhanced version, specifically designed for PlayStation®4. With this title, the Digimon franchise has now reached a new level with even two Digimon partners for the first time ever in the series. We can’t wait to get players’ feedbacks on this thrilling adventure!”
At the moment it’s expected that Digmon World: Next Order will be released onto the PS4 as a physical disc and digital download early next year but whats even more surprising is that the game will be available in English and Japanese along with European (English, French, German, Spanish and Italian) subtitles. Disappointingly however Bandai Namco Entertainment have no plans to release a PS Vita version of the game; but hopefully with enough demand this might change.
