Anime Limited & FUNimation Clarify Release Plans for Upcoming Titles

Another week, another newswire and once again Anime Limited continues to provide disappointing news in the form of updated release date amendments to both their own titles and FUNimation licensed shows; but of course kudos must be given to the distributor for trying something ‘special’ with each of their releases.
As so many titles were mentioned during this latest newswire I have opted to provide a ‘simple-to-read’ list as opposed to detailed information (like i do for usual release date articles); so without further ado here are the new updates provided by Anime Limited regarding their upcoming releases.
Anime Limited updates:
- Aldnoah.Zero – Season 2:
No release date announced and will most likely be released next year; however subject to approvals and BBFC certification they may try and release it by the end of the year. - Claymore Blu-ray:
Anime Limited are looking to release this on Blu-ray by the end of the year; but more detailed information will be provided in the coming months. - Eden of the East Ltd Collector’s Edition Blu-ray:
Retailers incorrectly listed the product with a September release date however this is expected to be released during November subject to approvals being approved. - Gundam Reconguista in G:
A delay during production results in this title being delayed slightly; but it has now been confirmed that it will be released on the 7th November 2016 as a Complete Series Blu-ray collection. - Lupin III (2015):
Originally announced for release during Q4 2016 but it has now been delayed until further notice so that the rumoured English Dub can be produced. Once the English Dub has been produced Anime Limited will begin work on their release; of which is now expected sometime next year. - Lucky Star Blu-ray:
Originally announced as a Q4 2016 but has now been delayed until (at earliest) December so that the DVD Disc featuring all of the bonus content can be included. This UK release will now mimic the US Collectors Edition release whereby the TV Series will be presented in High Definition on Blu-ray while the bonus features will be on DVD only. - Project Itoh: The Empire of Corpses:
This has been delayed until the 26th September 2016 due to a delay in production; most likely with the Collector’s Edition Blu-ray release as the standard DVD variation has been ready for sale since MCM Manchester in July. - Turn A Gundam:
Originally announced as DVD only release but will now be released on Blu-ray during Q1 2017. - Your Lie in April:
Part 1 was tentatively listed for release in September but this was incorrect and is now expected to be released during October; Part 2 meanwhile is to be confirmed. - Z Gundam:
Delayed slightly and will now be released during October; with Part 2 to be released at some point next year. - ZZ Gundam:
ZZ Gundam was announced as DVD only but it will now be released on Blu-ray at some point after Z Gundam’s release (which is currently Q4 2016 and 2017).
In short majority of Anime Limited’s Q4 2016 release schedule has been pushed back into next year due to production delays or approvals from Japanese licensors taking longer than usual.
In addition to Anime Limited providing details on their own selection of titles the distributor went on to provide an update on FUNimation titles; and as expected more delays can be seen.
FUNimation Updates:
- Brothers Conflict:
Due for release on the 14th November 2016 as a Blu-ray and DVD Combo Pack - Fairy Tail:
Fairy Tail – Part 10 is now expected for release sometime during October; which is good news as previously it was uncertain when Fairy Tail would be released. It will however be DVD only. - Gonna Be The Twin-Tail!!:
Currently expected to be released on the 26th September 2016 however this date could change depending on how long BBFC certification takes. - No-Rin:
Was previously scheduled for release during August/September as a Blu-ray & DVD Combo Pack but the release has now been moved to the 10th October 2016. - Overlord:
FUNimation will be releasing Overlord within the UK; but for the time being no details can be revealed. - Yurikuma Arashi:
Previously announced as a Q4 2016 release but has now been confirmed for release on the 31st October 2016 as a Blu-ray and DVD Combo Pack.
FUNimation’s presence within the UK continues to be a shallow experience; but it’s nice to see constant updates being provided.
Further details on all of these release date amendments, as well as additional information, can be found on the official Anime Limited blog.
Thanks for the update, so the wait for lucky star continues!
