In a rather surprising discovery by UK Anime Network, which was later confirmed real by Manga UK / Animatsu Entertainment’s Marketing Manager Andrew Hewson, it seems that Manga Entertainment UK will be releasing several Pokemon movies. the upcoming remaster of Transformers: The Movie and a 30th Anniversary Edition of Akira onto Blu-ray later this year.
It’s currently unclear how many Pokemon movies have been licensed by Manga Entertainment, as majority of them have been released by Universal Pictures / STUDIOCANAL over the past few years; but the distributor will be releasing Pokemon: Hoopa and the Clash of Ages on DVD and Blu-ray from the 24th October 2016 as well as the original Pokemon Movie Trilogy on DVD and Limited Edition Steelbook Blu-ray from the 14th November 2016.
Sticking with the ‘retro’ theme MangaUK will also be releasing the 30th Anniversary Edition of Transformers: The Movie as a Limited Edition Blu-ray Steelbook on the 12th December 2016. This ‘Anniversary Edition’ of the film will undergo a brand new High-Definition remastering process and it will feature both 4:3 and 16:9 widescreen variations of the film alongside a heap of bonus content. According to Amazon UK this steelbook copy will also come with a digital copy of the film; which is an interesting but nice touch.
Finally Akira will ‘once-again’ receive another Blu-ray release at the hands of Manga Entertainment UK and unlike previous releases it will contain both 1998 Streamline and 2001 Pioneer English dubs, alongside it’s original Japanese audio; of which will be packaged in a special collectable case and come bundled with a poster and a digital copy of the film. This 30th Anniversary Edition of Akira will be released on Triple Pack (DVD, Blu-ray & Digital Copy) and is currently scheduled for a 28th November 2016 release.
If that wasn’t enough to get you excited the Amazon UK listings also reveal that Digimon – Season 1 will be released on DVD from the 3rd October 2016, Digimon – Season 2 will be available on DVD from the 14th November 2016 and that Digimon Tri – The Movie 1 will be available on DVD and Collectors Edition Blu-ray from the 19th December 2016.
The Q4 release schedule for Manga Entertainment UK looks extremely interesting; but be warned thee dates listed above are tentative and can change without notice but at least we have a rough idea of when to expect them.
