Publisher NIS America have announced that Touhou Genso Wanderer, a rouge-like RPG game, will be making it’s way to the PS4 and PS Vita within Europe and America next year.

The game, which will be released in Japanese audio with translated text and subtitles, will see players take control of Reimu, the Hakurei Shrine Maiden, to investigate the latest incident to take place in the world of Gensokyo. As part of the games ‘unique’ story players will encounter a variety of characters from the Touhou Project universe and discover a range of items that can be fused with each-other to create even more stronger equipment for you to use.

One day, Reimu Hakurei is visiting Rinnosuke Morichika at his shop, Kourindo. He shows her one of his prized possessions, the golden sphere. However, when she touches it, it unleashes a mysterious beam of light. Rinnosuke starts acting strange, and a giant tower now stands where Kourindo used to be. The population of Gensokyo has also been replicated by clones who attack people on sight. As the Hakurei Shrine Maiden, it is Reimu’s duty to resolve this latest incident and bring peace back to Gensokyo.

Along the way, she is joined by Futo Mononobe, who has recently set out on a quest to become a first class sage. With her partner in tow, can Reimu make her way through the dungeons of the tower and put an end to this incident?

Touhou Genso Wanderer is the second ‘Touhou’ game to be announced for a western release as earlier in the year NIS America announced that they would be bringing the arcade-styled shoot-em-up Touhou Gendo Rondo: Bullet Ballet to the PS4 in september. In any event the arrival of Touhou games into the UK, Europe and America is obviously a great sign for fans of the franchise.

NIS America will reveal more details surrounding Touhou Genso Wanderer within the coming months; but for the time being it will be released next year onto the PS4 and PS Vita.
