Anime Limited to Release Eden of the East TV Series as a Premium Edition Blu-ray

In a relatively bizarre announcement Anime Limited have revealed that they will be releasing a Premium Edition of Eden of the East on Blu-ray later this year. The ‘bizarre’ situation about this announcement isn’t the fact that the series has already been released on Blu-ray by Manga Entertainment UK; but its the fact that this Premium Edition, for the time being at least, will only contain the TV Series and not the movies which finished off the story.

No details have been provided as to what one might expect from this Premium Edition, although we assume it will be something similar to their Ultimate and Collectors Edition releases, but the announcement on their blog does state that it will only feature the TV Series along with some ‘premium’ content and hopefully arrive in time for christmas. It’s also interesting to note that the US ‘Premium Edition’ features the TV Series and Movie as well as a selection of ‘unique’ items included inside its digipack designed box.

Personally i am a fan of Eden of the East, it was one of the first UK Blu-ray releases i ever watched and i still own it today; but when a Complete Collection – which consists of both the TV Series and films – is available for £18 I can’t help but wonder why Anime Limited would release a Premium Edition of, at the time of writing, just the TV Series for nearly triple the asking price.

Only time well tell; but for the time being this Premium Edition of Eden of the East is expected to be release in time for christmas this year.
