Psycho-Pass The Movie To Be Released by Anime Limited within the UK

Ever since Anime Limited announced that they had acquired the UK Distribution rights to Psycho-Pass 2, otherwise known as Psycho-Pass – Season 2, many have speculated whether or not they had acquired the rights to the feature-length movie; well today as part of an MCM Buzz Interview at MCM Comic Con Birmingham Jeremy Graves revealed that Anime Limited would indeed be releasing the film on Blu-ray and DVD within the UK.

This announcement was later confirmed in a blog post on the Anime Limited website with President of Anime Limited, Andrew Partridge, providing his own thoughts on this license announcement:

“We know this is title that people have been hoping we would be able to bring to the UK and I’m so happy that we are able to fulfil the desires of fans. The film received it’s UK Premiere back in October last year and I had a great time watching it along with everyone else in attendance. Being able to release the movie in addition to our upcoming release of the second season was a logical progression for Anime Limited, and one the whole team, not just myself, is very happy about. The film itself really is the next chapter in the story and expands the franchise in ways I didn’t foresee in a very positive way. It progresses the story a massive leap, which considering it’s a feature film and not a series is a great achievement for all involved.”

So; what exactly can you expect from the Psycho-Pass Movie? Well here is a synopis to give you an idea.

Synopsis: In a futuristic Japan, the Sibyl System is charged with keeping the peace. Using extensive surveillance and biological monitoring to gauge the likelihood that individuals will commit a crime, the police are able to use weapons called Dominators to remove potential criminals from the population before they become a problem. Confident with the success of the System within their own borders, the Japanese government has begun to export the technology to other countries, planning to ultimately spread the System across the globe.

When the state of SEAUn brings the Sibyl System in to test its effectiveness, it becomes a haven of peace and safety—for a time. Eventually, terrorists from SEAUn begin appearing in Japan, somehow slipping through the System’s security and attacking from within. Desperate for answers, Inspector Akane Tsunemori is sent overseas to bring the terrorists to justice. But when her investigation forces her into a standoff with an old ally, will she be able to pull the trigger?

As it stands Anime Limited plans to release Psycho Pass The Movie on DVD and Blu-ray during the third quarter of this year and just like the previously confirmed Psycho-Pass 2 the film will come with both English and Japanese audio.
