Anime Limited Confirm Numerous Release Date Alternations

It continues to be another bad-month for anime distributors as Anime Limited have revealed via their latest podcast that a variety of titles have had their release dates changed; specifically Sword Art online II – Part 3, A Letter to Momo and Selector Infected WIXOSS.
Starting with Sword Art Online II – Part 3 the set will now be released on the 11th April 2016 as opposed to its previously announced 28th March 2016 release date. A Letter to Momo on the otherhand has had its release date shifted from the 18th April 2016 to the 25th April 2016. Anime Limited provided no further details as to why these sets were delayed; so we can only assume it was due to production issues or delay in stock arrival at suppliers.
In any event the bad news continues with Selector Infected WIXOSS as Anime Limited went on to explain that the release has been delayed indefinitely while they wait for the assets to be provided to them by the Japanese licensor. Once the assets have been acquired, and production is under-way, a new release date will be announced.
Interestingly enough some ‘potentially’ good news could be had; as the podcast also revealed Anime Limited’s intentions for the upcoming Ultimate Edition release of Escalfowne. As it stands Anime Limited are planning to release the Ultimate Edition of Escaflowne onto Blu-ray this November, as originally announced, despite FUNimation launching a successful Kickstarter Campaign for a brand new English Dub that’s more in-line with the original Japanese audio track.
It’s explained that Anime Limited will have access to the New English Dub track and if it is ready in time it will be included on the UK Ultimate Edition release; however if the new English Dub isn’t ready then it will be included on the standard edition DVD and Blu-ray variations of the series; which is due for release in December. Depending on what happens it could mean that the ‘ultimate edition’ won’t be as “ultimate” as one would expect; but at least we know its still coming.
All of the release date amendments listed above will be updated on online retailers within the next couple of days.
