Attack on Titan and Blue Exorcist to be re-released as Complete Series Boxsets

Manga Entertainment UK have announced plans to re-release Attack on Titan and Blue Exorcist as Complete Series Boxsets on Blu-ray and DVD later this year; and unlike previous season sets, such as Shiki, Persona 4: The Animation and Bleach some additional work is being done.

For starters Attack on Titan will see the both half-season-sets placed inside a chipboard artbox that mimics the design found within the American and Australian releases; furthermore the set will come with the ‘complete’ “Notes behind the Wall” booklet which many fans missed out on due to the way the release was handled in the UK.

It’s currently unclear if MangaUK will be re-authoring the discs, as both parts of the series did have issues with dubtitles and chapter markings, but at least the packaging will be something much more sturdy and unique – unlike previous Collectors Edition release (which you can see in an our unboxing here).  The Complete Series set of Attack on Titan is currently scheduled for a Blu-ray and DVD release on the 27th June 2016.

attack-on-titan-complete-series-boxsetSynopsis: Several hundred years ago, humans were nearly exterminated by giants. Giants are typically several stories tall, seem to have no intelligence, devour human beings and, worst of all, seem to do it for the pleasure rather than as a food source. A small percentage of humanity survived by enclosing themselves in a city protected by extremely high walls, even taller than the biggest of giants.

Flash forward to the present and the city has not seen a giant in over 100 years. Teenage boy Eren and his foster sister Mikasa witness something horrific as the city walls are destroyed by a super giant that appears out of thin air. As the smaller giants flood the city, the two kids watch in horror as their mother is eaten alive. Eren vows that he will murder every single giant and take revenge for all of mankind.

Blue Exorcist on the other-hand will receive an entirely new packaging design and, for the first time in the UK, receive a DVD release with English Audio included. Previoulsy Blue Exorcist was only released on DVD with Japanese audio, with the Blu-ray release a year later featuring both English and Japanese audio options.

The release of a complete series set means that not only can fans own the series in one box but both Blu-ray and DVD users will be able to enjoy both English and Japanese audio formats. The Complete Series set of Blue Exorcist is currently scheduled for a Blu-ray and DVD release on the 9th June 2016.

When his guardian, Father Fujimoto Shirou, dies defending him against demons, Rin defies his Hellish heritage and enrols at the True Cross Academy, determined to become the world’s strongest exorcist.

Starting any new school is a challenge, but Rin’s got it tougher than most. Not only must he master his deadly demonic powers and fight the forces of darkness, but Rin also finds himself in the unenviable position of being instructed by his genius twin brother Yukio, who is already a teacher at the Academy! Then there’s the question of how Rin’s fellow classmates – shy Shiemi, hot-blooded Bon and haughty Izumo – will react if they ever discover his true parentage…

Both Attack on Titan and Blue Exorcist boxsets will be made available for pre-order on online retailers within the coming weeks.

One Response to Attack on Titan and Blue Exorcist to be re-released as Complete Series Boxsets

  1. Gary says:

Just received my much anticipated Attack on Titan season 1 in the post today, and I have to say I’m very disappointed with it. I had got the previous collector’s edition but like many people I was let down by the box errors and extras on DVD. I was going to rebuy, from USA or Australia but held off when I heard this news. So here is it and the new box is just the same flimsy cardboard as the first with certifications and writing on the back. The 2 x amaray boxes within are the same except minus the previous DVD. Oh, and the Notes from beyond the wall is not included in any form, despite it being in the pre sale image right up to release.
