Unboxing: The Future Diary – The Complete Series (Blu-ray) [US]

With KAZE Entertainment, through Manga Entertainment UK, due to release Mirai Nikki: The Future Diary – otherwise oftenly known as simply The Future Diary – within the UK later this month i thought it would be a good idea to take a look at the recent Complete Series collection released in America by FUNimation Entertainment.

Previously when The Future Diary was released into America it was only available on DVD, and in two half-season-sets no less, so when it came time to do the ‘much needed’ Blu-ray release FUNimation opted to release it as a complete series collection; which is ideal for those that want a complete set. From the offset theirs not alot to look at; sure enough the front cover has the two main protagonists of the series as well as the logo and era background with the same being said for the back-cover.

This relatively minimalistic design also continues on the discs, which see all 26 (or so) episodes spread out across three Blu-ray discs, as while it has a unique indentation on the disc artwork they are relatively plain. Ironically enough when all pulled together it works ok but when compared to the KAZE Blu-ray and DVD disc artwork (which you will see in our review later this month) you can’t help but feel disappointed. This being said the inside artwork used is nice and features some of the same artwork seen on the KAZE front covers of their set.

Overall this FUNimation Blu-ray release of The Future Diary – The Complete Series collection may look simplistic and basic; but it offers a more ‘sleek’ approach and features everything you would want in a single set; unlike the UK KAZE releases due out at the end of this month. This Blu-ray release of Future Diary – The Complete Series is Region Locked but it is now available within America.
