Anime Limited Acquire Free! – Eternal Summer for UK DVD & Blu-ray Release

Following on from the news last week that Anime Limited had acquired the distribution rights to both Psycho-Pass 2 and Rage of Bahamut: Genesis the UK distributor have today announced that they also have the UK distribution rights to the second season of Free!, otherwise known as Free! – Eternal Summer, within the UK on DVD and Blu-ray later this year.

Originally released by FUNimaiton Entertainment in america this UK release of Free! – Eternal Summer will contain all 13 episodes of the series, including the bonus OVA episode, and be available in both English and Japanese audio (with English Subtitles). Furthermore, as with most Anime Limited sets, it will come in Standard Edition and Collectors Edition formats. For the time being at least Anime Limited are being ‘relatively’ quiet on what to expect from this release; but according to the blog post it seems that its one that fans have been demanding (apparently).

In any case; here is the synopsis for the show:

The cherry blossoms are blooming, the sun is shining, and it’s the perfect time to hit the pool! Haruka, Makoto, Nagisa, and Rei are anxious to get into the water and warm up their winter muscles ASAP, but things aren’t all flip-turns and finish lines. Haru’s passion for swimming is drying up, which dashes Rin’s hope for a true rivalry. With their futures after high school looming over them, Makoto and Haru are having a hard time focusing. And a gruff new Samezuka student, Sosuke, appears just in time to jeopardize Iwatobi’s chance at nationals.

From Kyoto Animation comes the internet phenomenon that’s making a splash! Free! -Eternal Summer- is full of lovable characters, beautiful animation, and of course, MUSCLES!

Curious as to why Anime Limited only have the second season of Free! and not the first season? Well it’s due to license rules set in play by other distributors so it may be some time before both seasons are sat on your shelf.
