Unboxing: Eureka Seven – Part 1 and Part 2 (Blu-ray) [US]

Eureka Seven has been an anime thats received many releases over its lifespan; and when FUNimation announced a Blu-ray re-release of the series i knew i would end up getting them at some point. But what exactly can we expect from the Blu-ray release of Eureka Seven; well today in this ‘double unboxing’ i’ll be showing what you can expect to receive from Eureka Seven – Part 1 (Limited Edition Blu-ray) and Eureka Seven – Part 2 (Standard Blu-ray).

To start with both releases are Region Locked; so theres no point buying these if you only own a Region B Blu-ray player; secondly the limited edition version of Part 1, which simply includes an artbox for both sets to be placed inside, can be hard to find giving how old this release now is. Facts aside Part 1 features the first half of the series on Blu-ray, with some bonus materials included on a seperate DVD disc, while the second half contains the remaining episodes. All of the discs however still use that repulsive singular colour for the disc artwork; but interestingly enough with the design choice used it works quite well.

In terms of packaging then Part 1 features renton on the front with Part 2 featuring eureka; meanwhile the inside artwork for each Blu-ray case features the artwork used on Part 1 and Part 2 of the BEEZ Entertainment DVD releases. The artbox itself is also quite interesting; as for starters unlike Eureka Seven AO artbox theres no mention of “Part 1” anywhere – thus giving the illusion of a complete box set, secondly the artwork used on the reverse of the packaging is one massive spoiler for the series. Of course if you haven’t seen the show you may not realise it; but its a pretty big thing to leave wide open like that.

Overall, and as you’d expect, the presentation and packaging is everything you would come to expect from a FUNimation release and once sat on your shelf it all flows quite nicely together. Eureka Seven – Part 1 and Part 2 are now available on Blu-ray within America; however in UK Distributor Anime Limited have announced that they will be bringing the series out on Blu-ray next year within the UK.
