As part of Anime Limited’s partnership with Sunrise for the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise the UK anime distributor opted to host a panel which saw Eri Suzuki, a member of the International Sales Department at Sunrise, to share details about what future Mobile Suit Gundam projects will be hitting the UK.
The panel itself, which last for thirty minutes, was quite informative and it saw a video detailing the Gundam’s ‘extensive’ period and the differences that came with it. Of course the most important aspect of this panel were the announcements which came in short bursts.
To start with Eri Suzuki confirmed that Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin II would receive a worldwide streaming/rental release later this year and that the latest Gundam anime series, known as Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans, is currently streaming on Daisuki and Crunchyroll (otherwise known as Crunchroll according to the Panelists Presentation. It was also explained that this latest anime series would receive an English Dub early next year; but as to whether this dubbed version of the series would be released in the UK is anyones guess.
The final segment of the panel saw a combination of Eri Suzuki and Andrew Partridge announce that a selection of Gundam TV Series will be coming to the UK; namely Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ and Turn A Gundam. It wasn’t specified which format these shows would be released in; but here is hoping that all three will be released on Blu-ray. Gundam: Reconguista in G, which was previously mentioned at MCM Manchester for a Q4 2015 release, was also mentioned at the panel but it will now be released next year during 2016.
The Sunrise Panel:
In short Anime Limited will release Mobile Suit Gundam, the original TV Anime series, on Blu-ray within the UK this year; afterwhich they will release Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ, Turn A Gundam and Gundam: Reconguista in G throughout 2016. It’s also expected that Anime Limited will release evn more Gundam shows in the following years; so it will be interesting what happens next.
