Muv-Luv English Localisation Kickstarter Appears Online

As many of us will know MVM Entertainment are currently in the process of releasing Muv-Luv Alternate: Total Eclipse onto DVD and Blu-ray within the UK; however what many ‘may’ not known is that the anime is based upon the japanese visual novel Muv-Luv.

Well publisher Degica have started a Kickstarter campaign which will see the entire Muv-Luv collection, which consists of Muv-Luv and Muv-Luv Alternate, being translated into English and released onto Steam; with Stretch Goals available for the PS Vita and Android versions of the game. But what exactly is Muv-Luv and this Kickstarter about? Well Degica explains:

Penned by the successful author of Kimi ga Nozumu Eien (well-known as Rumbling Hearts or “Kiminozo”), Koki Yoshimune, the Muv-Luv series started as a high school romance Visual Novel game in 2003 but quickly evolved into an epic science fiction based saga featuring an alternate world, giant aliens, mecha robots, and a complex cast of characters.

Selling more than half a million units since release in Japan alone, The Muv-Luv series has successfully made the transition to anime and manga, even spawning the “Moe Military” trend which is still raging in Japan. With over 3 million individual figurines, robot hobby models, and anime/manga sold; Muv-Luv is a force to be reckoned with and has influenced a huge number of individuals all over the world including prominent artists and creators!

This Kickstarter will focus on the localization and PC/Steam release of the first two titles in the series: Muv-Luv and Muv-Luv Alternative.

The Kickstarter, which initially had a target of $250,000 has already managed to exceed its target and reach $400,000 – which is extremely impressive especially considering that the campaign itself does not end until the 3rd November 2015.

As it stands Degica plans to release the English localised version of Muv-Luv towards the end of next year; but as with all crowd-funded titles delays can occur. Those wishing to support the campaign can do so by visiting the official Kickstarter page.
