Anime Limited Clarifies Mobile Suit Gundam and Gundam Reconguista In G Release Plans

Last month at the Manchester MCM Comic Con Anime Limited announced during their panel that they would be releasing the original Mobile Suit Gundam series onto Blu-ray in both English and Japanese languages; following on from that announcement numerous retailers, including Amazon and Zavvi, began listing the product for pre-order with a September release date – a date which we also published onto this blog.

Well today, as part of their weekly newswire round-up, Anime Limited clarified that the release date listings for both parts of Mobile Suit Gundam were incorrect and as a result the correct release dates are 30th November 2015 for Part 1 and a TBC Date in December. As usual both dates are tentative and can be changed at any given notice.

Thats not all either; as Anime Limited went on to confirm that Episode 15, entitled Cucuruz Doan’s Island, will not be included in this UK release of the series. A explanation wasn’t given but a ‘quick internet search’ explains that the director wasn’t happy with the episode and as such has forbidden it to be released outside of Japan; and so in order for Anime Limited to release the series they too must also comply with this request. For your peace of mind the US release will not feature that particular episode either; furthermore it’s also worth pointing out that all of the bonus content included in the American release of Mobile Suit Gundam will be included on this UK release.

Moving away from Mobile Suit Gundam and onto something ‘more recent’ Anime Limited went on to clarify that Gundam Reconguista In G will be released as two half-season-sets as opposed to a complete box set that was originally listed on Amazon.

As it stands both parts of Mobile Suit Gundam should be released by the end of this year; meanwhile only the first half of Gundam Reconguista In G will be released with the other-half to follow sometime after.
