Manga Entertainment UK Acquire Terra Formars for Home Video Release; Part 1 Available on DVD & Blu-ray in August


In a rather exciting, but completely unexpected, announcement Manga Entertainment UK have today revealed that they will releasing the brutal Sci-Fi anime series Terra Formars on DVD and Blu-ray within the UK; with the first part being released on the 31st August 2015.

Specifics of this release have yet to be confirmed, such as audio options, episode count and pricing; but despite being only 13-episodes long the series will be split into two parts – Part 1 will be released in August with the remainder of the series expected/assumed to be released later in the year. For those unfamiliar with Terra Formars then here is a brief synopsis of what to expect from the show, as provided from MangaUK themselves:

A virus has spread around the world and humanity’s only hope is placed in the crew of Annex #1, as they travel to Mars to inspect the effects of the Terra Forming project which begun thousands of years ago. The Project involved using moss, a plant that is very resilient and can grow in almost any environment, alongside a bug with equal qualities – Cockroaches.

Their goal is to obtain samples of the resident cockroaches in the hope of finding a cure to the virus. Unfortunately those resilient insects have mutated into giant, aggressive humanoids with one overriding goal: exterminate the humans!

When it was originally broadcast Terra Formers instantly became famous due to it’s highly edited nature, with some scenes being completely blank due to the on-screen violence; it happened so much that it nearly rendered the show unwatchable. Hopefully this home video release will be the ‘full’ uncut series; but we wont know for sure until closer to launch; either way its a very exciting announcement.

The first part of Terra Formars will be available on DVD and Blu-ray from the 31st August 2015; meanwhile the second part is expected to be released later in the year.


It seems like Terra Formars has been licensed through Kaze Entertainment as a recent ‘announcement tweet‘ from MangaUK shows the KAZE Logo in the picture. This means that Kaze will author the discs and that MangaUK will distribute the show within the UK; just like they are doing with Bleach DVD releases and – whenever it gets released – the upcoming Nisekoi titles.
