With the eleventh instalment of Fairy Tail things take a drastic turn; not only does the story move into brand new uncharted terrority, with the introduction of a seven-year time-skip, but it’s also the first Fairy Tail release to be Region Locked; either way with these ‘key facts’ aside what can you expect from this US Release of Fairy Tail – Part 11.

Just like the past ten instalments Fairy Tail – Part 11 contains the next selection of episodes, in this case eleven episodes, spread out across two DVD and two Blu-ray discs; with the overall packaging and presentation reminaing the same as previous sets. In hindsight the only packaging difference is the disc count number and the artwork used – other than that everything is pretty much the same.

As always FUNimation continue to use the ‘bland’ disc types; which result in a singular colour being used on the disc (Red for DVD and Blue for Blu-ray) – sure it cuts the overall production costs down, and presumably allows us to buy it for cheaper prices – unlike Sentai Filmwork titles – but considering the rest of the packaging is top quality it’s just disappointing and spoilts the presentation.

Speaking of presentation i found the visual quality in these ‘HD Native’ Fairy Tail episodes to be worse than that of the previous releases which were ‘upscaled to HD’. To me the episode content doesn’t look ‘HD Native’ and instead looks zoomed-in and cropped; especially when compared to other HD Native shows; but it could just be me. Amusingly because of this i found myself watching the DVD’s.

Overall Fairy Tail – Part 11 is pretty much the same as its previous ten instalments; same packaging, same presentation – just a different collection of episodes. Enjoy! Fairy Tail – Part 11 (Blu-ray / DVD Combo Pack) is now available within America; a UK DVD Release of Fairy Tail – Part 11 is expected in the near future.
