Seeing as we missed last week’s ‘weekly’ unboxing video we’ve decided to do two this week; and this time it will be VIZ Media’s American Blu-ray release of Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan – Set 1 and Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan – Set 2; which makes up for the entirety of Season 1.

Before we ‘dive’ into the contents of each Blu-ray set the American Blu-ray release of Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan Set 1 and Set 2 are compatible on UK Players; as all you need to do is press the ‘Disc Menu’ button when the Region A screen appears to divert it to the main menu – afterwhich everything acts as normal.

In regards to these Blu-ray releases then there really isn’t much to talk about; as both the disc artwork and packaging artwork are rather bland and basic – which pretty much falls in line with other VIZ Media Blu-ray releases – and the only positive note is that ‘some’ additional bonus content is included in the form of Production Artwork, Textless songs and trailers – which is more than what the UK DVD Releases by Kaze had.

Disappointingly however these sets are 1080i and rumours suggest, judging from posts on American Blu-ray forums, that these Blu-ray sets are actually the edited version of the show and that our UK releases may actually be infact uncut – which explains why our UK DVD sets have the original Japanese opening (with text) as opposed to the translated versions included in these blu-ray sets.

Either-way; whatever the cause these two Blu-ray sets provide the entire season in a ‘high definition’ format thats enjoyable to watch; but at the end of the day its just another shonen jump series – and both sets are now available on Blu-ray within America.
