Unboxing: A-Channel – The Complete Collection (Blu-ray) [US]

It’s been awhile since we unboxed an American Sentai Filmworks release so without further-a-do i present a Blu-ray unboxing of A-Channel – The Complete Collection; well that was well-timed.

This Blu-ray release of A-Channel is all kinds of interesting; not because of the episdoic content thats included, which i’ve never seen, but how its presented. For starters A-Channel was originally released on DVD, but it’s now been re-released onto Blu-ray, something which most UK Distributors would probably never think of doing; secondly since their is no English Audio (thats right it’s Subtitled only) all of the episodes have been crammed onto a single 50GB Blu-ray disc, which seems like something KAZE would do, with the second disc being used for bonus materials such as OVA episodes.a_channel_bluray_unboxing_discs

I still reject the idea of 12 episodes being crammed onto a single Blu-ray disc, as it feels like you aren’t getting the quality you deserve, but according to Sentai Filmworks the lack of an English Audio track means that enough space is available for the remaining episodes to be placed onto the first. How true this is i’m not sure, but eitherway its the decision they chose.

When it comes to packaging then there isn’t much to say; the outside artwork is (front and back) is nice with the spine being a bit basic – the same can be said for the disc artwork – it’s all “typical sentai filmworks” and nothing outstanding; but at least it does the job. The only real disappointing fact is the that there is no inside artwork (like UK releases tend to have) so it does feel like a cheap product; although considering it can be picked-up for $20 isn’t surprising.

A-Channel – The Complete Collection is now available on Blu-ray (and DVD) in America; but while the discs are Region Locked they do work in on UK PS3 and PS4 Consoles.
