Unboxing: Cowboy Bebop – The Complete Series (DVD) [UK]

Another week, another unboxing; and this time we are doing something different by unboxing Anime Limited’s UK DVD Release of Cowboy Bebop – The Complete Series.

Let’s be clear; Cowboy Bebop is available as both DVD and Blu-ray within the UK, we even reviewed the Blu-ray sets last year, and while the Blu-ray offers the superior picture (and audio) quality the DVD isn’t half bad either; its just nice to have the option available – especially for those who’ve yet to upgrade to Blu-ray.

Anyway moving back on track; Anime Limited’s DVD release of Cowboy Bebop – The Complete Series is just as you’d expect it to be, especially for a standard edition release, whereby all of the discs are crammed into a relatively thick clear amaray case. Of course thats the negative; the positives is that each disc is numbered with episode count and feature a VHS/Betamax style to them – similar to that of the Blu-ray release. Furthermore the artwork features a reversible sleeve and its the same sleeve that was used in the original Limited Edition print run of the DVD.

In terms of disc content then everything used within the Blu-rays, such as the Holiday Special and Cast Interviews, are included; so its clear to say that Anime Limited simply haven’t re-used an existing DVD encode from Madman (or another Australian disc author). In retrospect Cowboy Bebop – The Complete Series is exactly what you pay for, a simplistic DVD set with some unique artwork and packaging choices – for me i’m 50/50 on the whole Anime Limited artwork, but it works well.
