UK Blu-ray Release of Space Pirate Captain Harlock To Include Japanese Edit on DVD

In a relatively interesting, but potentially disappointing, announcement Manga Entertainment UK have explained that the 3D Blu-ray release of Space Pirate Captain Harlock will include the ‘International’ version of the film in High Definition where as the ‘Japanese Edit’ of the film, along with 40 minutes of bonus materials, will be included on a seperate DVD.

Basically Manga UK are doing the same as what they did with the recent Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods and Attack On Titan – Part 1 releases, whereby all of the bonus materials, majority of which were in High Definition, were stripped from the Blu-ray and instead placed onto a standard definition DVD.

In regards to the ‘Japanese Edit’, which is said to include extended or alternate scenes from that of the International version of the film, then it seems that it will only be available in standard definition within UK. Of course there could always be the possibility that the ‘Japanese Edit’ was never intended for ‘Outside of Japan’ release and that the only way it could be included is if it was bundled on DVD with the international release; we just won’t know until someone provides further clarification.

Eitherway Space Pirate Captain Harlock, which is a 3D CGI Feature-film based upon the Captain Harlock franchise, is expected to be released early next year on 3D Blu-ray and DVD.
