Ultimate Edition of Patema Inverted Delayed By One Week for Kickstarter Backers

It seems Anime Limited’s Patema Inverted Kickstarter project is becoming just as ‘botched’ as the rest of their anime releases; as now the Ultimate Edition has received a week delay.

As explained in a recent Kickstarter Update the production company (printers) for this release forgot to include the O-Card with the Ulitmate Edition of Patema Inverted and, as a result, the release has been delayed so that the O-Card can be included and shipped to all backers.

– Printers helpfully forgot about an O-Card for the UK, so we’re just waiting on those to be delivered. This means alas the Ultimate will ship one week later for backers now (week of December 1st) and the retail date on Amazon for it will be December 14th. This is why we don’t have any pictures to share yet for the Ultimate either (and we’re chomping our own hands off over it).

– Standard edition is now in the warehouse so will go out to backers of that tier next week as planned still, retail date being December 1st

What this means is that the Ultimate Edition will be sent out to Kickstarter Backers from the 1st December 2014, with the retail release to follow two weeks later on the 14th December 2014. Meanwhile the standard edition, which is a blu-ray & dvd combo pack, will be sent to Kickstarter backers this week with the retail release to follow on the 1st December 2014.

It’s amusing how a kickstarter designed to fund an Ultimate Edition is being treated in an odd fashion; but as Anime Limited explains the company promised retailers stock of the standard edition and if it was delayed /altered any further then issues could occur:

The standard edition combi-pack is being sold in to a lot of retailers (Amazon, HMV, Zavvi, Forbidden Planet, Anime-On-Line, MVM, The Hut and Base to name a few). We’ve moved the dates once to match up already and doing so again jeopardises orders placed.

I’m pretty sure that not only do we not want that but also as backers of the film (which I’d hope is in part a vote of support for Yoshiura-san as a director) that you don’t want the film to fail in the UK either.

So what exactly happens now? Well if you supported the standard version of the film then you should be receiving it very shortly; if you supported the Ultimate Edition of the film (such as ourselves) you’ll have to wait until the 1st December 2014 before it gets sent out. However if you have supported the collectors edition version of the film then you’ll have to wait until January next year.

Standard Combi-pack:
BACKERS: Next week RETAIL: December 1st

Ultimate edition:

BACKERS: Week of December 1st
RETAIL: December 14th for Amazon.

Collector’s Edition:

BACKERS: ASAP in January & will send booklet to backers of the standard at same time.
RETAIL: No shorter than 1 week later for retail, likely same time as Ultimate.

It seems Anime Limited never get the ‘easy-end’ of releasing anime; but at least they always keep the community informed of any mishaps that happen with their projects.
