UK Home Video Release of Giovanni’s Island Pushed Back Till January

giovannis_island-screenshot2It seems the bad news keeps on coming from All The Anime, or Anime Limited as they are also known, as today the UK Anime Distributor revealed that the feature-length-film Giovanni’s Island will now be released on the 12th January 2015.

The title, which is being released as a Blu-ray and DVD Combo Pack, was originally slated for a 8th December 2014 release date however due to an ‘undisclosed’ reason the release has now been pushed back into the middle of next-year – which is disappointing for those hoping to receive it as a christmas present.

If you haven’t heard of Giovanni’s Island then here is a brief synopsis of the film:

“On August 15th, they told us we had lost the war. At that time, we did not really understand. Then one day, everything changed. Many soldiers, wearing uniforms we had never seen before, arrived on the island. That was the day I met Tanya.”

In the aftermath of the most devastating conflict mankind had ever experienced, the tiny island of Shikotan became part of the Sakhalin Oblast… and on the unhealed border of this remote corner of the world, friendship among children from two different countries timidly blossomed, striving to overcome language barriers and the waves of history. Junpei and Kanta are two brothers who live with their father Tatsuo on Shikotan, a tiny island off the northernmost shores of Japan. As Japan surrender on August 15, 1945, the island becomes Soviet Union territory, and for the Japanese community, a new life with the Soviet citizens who have moved onto the island begins…

Giovanni’s Island will be available as a Blu-ray and DVD Combo Pack on the 12th January 2015; although if that release date changes then we’ll let you guys know.
