UK Anime Distributor All The Anime, previously known as Anime Limited, have today announced that they have acquried the UK distribution license for Giovanni’s Island, a feature-length animated film directed by Mizuho Nishikubo and produced by Production I.G, for home video and theatrical release.

Based on true events, and created by the same studio behind A Letter To Momo, Giovanni’s Island sees two boys, Junpei and Kanta, living within the war torn island of Shikotan as they and the residents become acustomed to all of the new changes taking place; changes which sees two different nations of people becoming acustomed to each other despite all of the tensions in the air. It’s a dramatic story and one that sees imagination and open-minds bring new possibilities for the characters.

Giovanni’s Island will see a short theatrical release, with locations and dates to be revealed on the official website, followed by the DVD and Blu-ray release of the film shortly after. Concrete details have yet to be detailed but All The Anime hopes to have the film in cinemas (and on DVD and Blu-ray) by the end of this year.
