The first feature length Fairy Tail movie is now available within America, and more importantly it will be available this year within the UK, but what does the US Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack have to offer? Well lets take a look in our unboxing.
As you may already be aware Fairy Tail: The Movie – Phoenix Priestess is a feature length movie, spanning 85 minutes, that sees members of the fairy tail guild embark on a new “standalone” adventure. However what you might not know is that the film takes place ‘after’ a time-skip, so characters are older, wiser and much stronger than what they currently are in the TV Series.
In regards to the American Blu-ray & DVD Combo Pack release the outer packaging is wonderful, it has a unique carded sleeve and it yet again following trends set by previous TV Series instalments. Unfortunately that’s where the good news ends, as while this packaging is unique (by being inside a Black Blu-ray case) it feels out of place stood next to the DVD sets (different sized cases). Of course this isn’t the biggest dilemma, the biggest issue is yet again the Disc artwork – which is just basic colours and the Fairy Tail logo on each disc.
It’s a shame that the outer packaging looks so nice but the inner packaging looks bland, I assume its to save on production costs but it just feels cheap and nasty. Disc content wise their is a few worthwhile bonuses, including a prologue which explains what happened before the movie began.
As you may have noticed Fairy Tail: The Movie – Phoenix Priestess (Blu-ray / DVD Combo Pack) is Region Free (on both DVD & Blu-ray), but considering the packaging is rather bland (on the inside) it might be worthwhile waiting for the UK release later this year as I assume it will feature the same content and be presented better (visually).
