Animax PS3 App Now Available from Playstation Network Store

Ever since it’s launch last October Animax UK have promised that PS3 App was in the works and would be released within the next year, well today that dream has come a reality as the Animax UK App is now available to download from the Playstation Network Store.

The App, which is a 40mb download, will allow anime fans to instantly access all of the content that is available on the Animax UK website, such as free simulcasts for non-members. As it stands the App is in its early stages, the videos (streams) work perfectly fine it’s just that the App itself feels slightly sluggish and mimics the design and layout of the website.

Of course over the next few months (and presumably years?) improvements will be made to the app to provide a better experience to users, but as it stands it is just nice to have a dedicated anime app on a games console. This means that there is no need to sit in front of a laptop / pc screen, instead anime can be viewed on a full-sized TV, the way it was intended.

The Animax App should appear for download under the “TV / Movie” Apps section of the Playstation Network Store, if not just search “Animax” using the Playstation Network Stores built in search function and it will be one of the top results.

As always Animax is a subscription based service, with a two week free trial currently being offered, alternatively the site (and PS3 App) does offer free simulcasts which change on a weekly basis.
