Anime Limited, also known as All The Anime, have today announced that they have licensed Patema Inverted for distribution within the UK, however unlike Perfect Blue the film will receive a “limited run” in Cinemas across the UK in addition to a DVD and Blu-ray Release.
Just like “major blockbuster films” Patema Inverted will be shown in Cinemas throughout the UK, with dates and locations to be revealed in the future. Shortly after its theatrical release Anime Limited will release the film onto Blu-ray and DVD, as Andrew Partridge, founder and president of Anime Limited explains:
“We’re very excited to bring the visual and storytelling treat that is Patema Inverted to the UK for theatrical release. Having such a film made available to cinema-goers is what we strive to do here at Anime Limited. Being able to also bring the film to home video allows us to provide UK anime audiences with a full service experience.”
For those unaware Patema Inverted is the latest cinematic offering from Yasuhiro Yoshiura, director of the much loved (and previously kickstarted) Time of Eve OVA Series. The film itself is set in a unique underground world where an adventurous young princess, Patema, sets to explore the ‘danger zone’ – the region where passage has been forbidden by the leaders of the community. As she investigates the ‘danger’, Patema soon discovers just what’s going on right under her feet.
The film was released ‘this month’ in Japan, and now Anime Limited hopes to distribute it into the UK in the near future. I’m assuming that Patema Inverted being released into the UK is a result of “positive” subtitle only feedback from their recent survey, that is unless an English Dub is currently in the works.
Either way, Anime Limited have licensed Patema Inverted and it will be released into the UK on both DVD and Blu-ray with a limited cinematic run beforehand.
