PlanetAxel Goes Bankrupt, Announces Closure

PlanetAxel
, formly Axel Music, has today announced that the company has gone bankrupt and that the online store will shortly be closing down with all current orders being cancelled unless they are in the ‘dispatching’ or ‘shipping’ process.

The news comes direct from Rasmus Christiansen, the General Manager at PlanetAxel, who posted this statement on the websites front page.

PlanetAxel.com is no more!

It is with great sadness, deep regret and utter embarrassment that we announce the closure and bankruptcy of PlanetAxel.com

On Monday afternoon, June 18th, 2012 the board of directors have informed us that no further investment will be made in the company. This comes in light of the recently finished 2011 financials which showed such an insurmountable deficit and loss to company value that a swift decision was made almost overnight. We have been asked to provide a quick summary/FAQ of your options as a previous customer of PlanetAxel.com with respect any outstanding orders/refunds.

On a personal note I would like apologize to everyone that will be somehow affected or inconvenienced by this matter. I’ve spend half my life with the company (18 years in total) and it all ended today. This is not ‘just business’ to me, but sincerely personal. I can honestly say that this has been a sad, sad day for all of us here at the office but the fact that so many suppliers, affiliates, employees and most important of all, customers are affected by this bankruptcy is almost unbearable.

On behalf of everyone at PlanetAxel.com I offer my sincerest and heartfelt apologies and thank you for your support over the years.

With sincerest regards,

Rasmus Christiansen, General Manager

Basically any new orders or pre-orders will automatically be cancelled and the money ‘should’ be refunded, however with the company claiming bankruptcy customers who have already pre-paid for their item may have to claim their money back from their bank, rather than the website.

Any orders that are currently being processed will also be cancelled, unless they are in the ‘dispatching’ or ‘shipping’ stage of checkout, if so then these items will still be dispatched (if in stock) within the next few days and should reach customers as normal.

For more information then please visit the PlanetAxel Website.

  1. Could you name some alternatives when it comes to buying region 2/B anime? i know play.com and amazon uk already, any other good one i’m missing?

    • Scott says:

Play.com & Amazon.co.uk are ‘mainly’ for buying official UK (Region 2/B) licensed Blu-rays. For this there is also Zavvi.com, thehut.com and hmv.com. Planet Axel was the website to go to if you wanted to import an american (Region 1/B) Blu-ray that was Region 2/B Compatible. (hence the reason for this blog).

Anyway… in regards to where to buy USA / American Blu-rays, you can buy them from Amazon.com, rightstuf.com, up1.com (or the UK site of up1.co.uk) and dvdempire.com – if you know anymore please feel free to list them 😉
